Chris, Richelle, Grant and Grace Burns were an average family that decided to do something unique with its life and to document the process along the way. With nearly three years, numerous countries and 13,000 sea miles in Wind Dancer's wake, our family is no longer 'average.' It has instead acquired a depth and scope beyond anything we could have ever achieved ashore.

The Burns Family Voyage of Discovery aboard our 12 metre yacht was about exploring new worlds, those on the globe and those that exist in family relationships. We learned immeasurably from our amazing experiences and share the details with you on this website. Our mission is to provide an online vehicle for real and useful information on the various aspects of the voyaging lifestyle: diet, schooling, entertainment, health care, socializing, duties, privacy, et al.

The Book...

The main focus of this site is on our book, Family Voyaging - Ak to nZ. Here you'll find the story of our own family's personal Voyage of Discovery. It begins with the initial decision to sell our home in Alaska and move aboard Wind Dancer before setting sail for the South Seas and New Zealand. Our online-based book also presents a myriad of 'how-to' sections relating to voyaging and cruising in general for families of any genus, from cruising couples to parents with their children aboard.
